RESEARCH STATEMENT

Academia taught Sandra about intricacies of Industrial and Organizational (I-O) Psychology, but her real-world experiences first exposed her to the field's implications. Growing up in Colombia, she indirectly experienced the workforce's challenges when her father faced continuous age discrimination while searching for new jobs. She noticed, even then, factors that influenced working standards and job selection regulations.

This experience not only built her character but encouraged her to research solutions towards eliminating discrimination in employee selection. Similarly, working as a housekeeper with her grandmother while completing her undergraduate studies inspired me to find ways to benefit aging workers in vulnerable occupations.

She learned that I-O was the psychology instrument to put my ideas into action. She is determined to be an active citizen in her community through I-O practice. Her goal is to become a trailblazer in the field, developing research-based practice in employee well-being, and multicultural workforces.
